Endless Forms Most Beautiful - Episode 12:The Theme Of The Album

27.2.2015.

Tuomas comments: “There’s a kind of scientific approach to a lot of things on the album. Songs like ‘Shudder Before The Beautiful’, ‘Endless Forms Most Beautiful’, ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’ or ‘Alpenglow’ all somehow reflect the bliss of existence. It’s temporary character. Evolution…Maybe you could even talk about the poetic nature of science. Natural science and its paradigm – seem to represent something cold and boring to a lot of people. Hopefully we can illustrate with this album – that science can even be something profoundly spiritual.”

Stand-in drummer Kai Hahto adds: “It’s a perfect theme to an album. Like, how did we come to be? And when our time here is done, what kind of mark do we leave? It’s a pretty amazing theme.”

Making Of Endless Forms Most beautiful - Episode 11:Release Of The First Single

16.2.2015.

In this episode you can peek behind the scenes of single 'Élan' and it's brand new video released last week.

Élan single and music video release

13.2.2015.

Today is the release of the first single Élan out of the new Nightwish album Endless Forms Most Beautiful.

The release is also celebrated with the video clip for 'Élan'. It was shot in Finland at various locations between September and November 2014, directed by Ville Lipiäinen.

Tuomas Holopainen commented: "The long awaited NIGHTWISH music video 'Élan' is finally here. Inspired by the untold stories of abandoned places around Finland, the video was nearly a year in the making and features some of the most loved Finnish actors and actresses. And also the legendary NIGHTWISH symbol, a snowy owl (Bubo Scandiaca in Latin) called "Urho" ("Braveheart")."

Élan leaked on the internet

7.2.2015.

Millions of people waiting for new era to come - the release of the new Nightwish album Endless Forms Most Beautiful. The album with new singer Floor Jansen with inspiration from the evolution of men. But first ''calm before the storm'' - the release of the first single Élan. The release which all waiting with delight.

But, in the world of internet and disrespect, there always be someone to violate this delight. Two days ago someone came to the not original and with poor quality of the song Élan, and share it on the internet. The band and fans are very disappointed. The release of the single and the music video should be the time the Élan come out at the light of the day.

Nightwish made a statements about this. Band members also spoke about it. You can find their statements at Additional News section.

Nightwish:

OUR INTENTION WAS NOT NECESSARILY TO ATTACK AN INDIVIDUAL PERSON, BUT TO RAISE AWARENESS THAT SPREADING UNRELEASED PROPERTY THROUGH INTERNET IS NOT SOMETHING THAT ANY ARTIST WOULD LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN. THIS IS ABOUT OUR MUSICAL PROPERTY AND THE ABUSE OF IT, WE ARE NOT ANONYMOUS, EITHER. THIS KIND OF THING CAUSES IRREPARABLE HARM TO COUNTLESS PEOPLE WORKING IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WORLDWIDE. NOT ONLY FOR THE BAND.

This message was written and released by Tuomas last night. We as a band feel the same and like to share these words with you:

     Warmest greetings everyone,

Some of us like to stay neutral on issues concerning internet/Facebook, but I feel it only proper to remark on a quite remarkable situation. I saw that our first single "Èlan" was leaked on the internet today, and I was quite baffled by some of the reactions I read. I was then asked to make a short statement, and the following is what I feel about the issue.

The leaking of a full album, or just a single song in advance, is a huge blow to the wonderful mystery which is surrounding the impending release of our new music. We have deliberately cultivated this so as to give our fans an event; a (hopefully) powerful surprise. The passionate posts on the bands Facebook page (which were done in the heat of the moment) were no doubt a honest reaction to the disappointment in someone deliberately spoiling a part of these efforts. To suggest that the band or the record label would do this on purpose is very "conspiracy theory" and simply not true. The very thing we care about most is the music on the album, and the impact it will have on people.

With that in mind, do try to avoid listening to this "leak" and any others for that matter. Just wait to hear it as it is supposed to be - a labour of love, the fruit of dedicated hard work and of the highest quality. The way we would wish to experience it ourselves.

This is a delicate issue, which seems to be very hard to address in a right way. We seriously hope everyone would calm down now. There´s a lesson to be learned for all sides here.

Yours sincerely,
Tuomas &
